When “former things” have passed away,
And we have reached the city fair,
Illumined by eternal day,
“No pain nor sorrow shall be there.”

God’s tender hand will dry our tears,
And banish weariness and care;
Thro’ all the glad celestial years,
“No pain nor sorrow shall be there.”

Beyond the pearly gates of peace,
The cross of grief no soul shall bear,
Then cometh perfect, sweet release,
“No pain nor sorrow shall be there.”

O blest assurance! by and by,
The home of angels we shall share,
And, safe in mansions built on high,
We’ll find no pain nor sorrow there.
