Jesus my Savior is all things to me

August 31

Jesus my Savior is all things to me;
O what a wonderful Savior is He!
Guiding, protecting, o’er life’s rolling sea,
Mighty Deliv’rer-Jesus for me!

Jesus in sickness, and Jesus in health,
Jesus in poverty, comfort or wealth,
Sunshine or tempest, whatever it be,
He is my Safety-Jesus for me!

He is my Refuge, my Rock and my Tow’r,
He is my Fortress, my Strength and my Pow’r;
Life everlasting, my Daysman is He,
Blessed Redeemer-Jesus for me!

He is my Prophet, my Priest and my King,
He is my Bread of Life, Fountain and Spring;
Bright Sun of Righteousness, Daystar is He,
Horn of Salvation-Jesus for me!

Jesus in sorrow, in joy or in pain,
Jesus, my Treasure in loss or in gain;
Constant companion, where’er I may be,
Living or dying-Jesus for me!

Chorus
Jesus for me!
Jesus for me!
All the time, ev’rywhere,
Jesus for me!

Never alone in this earthly way

August 30

Never alone in this earthly way,
Somebody cares, Somebody cares,
I have a Helper each busy day;
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.
Somebody cares when the clouds hang low,
Cares when my heart is o’erwhelmed with woe,
Cares, and is marking my path below;
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.

When I am singing a happy song,
Somebody cares, Somebody cares,
When I am fighting against the wrong,
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.
Somebody cares when I stand alone,
Cares when the pleasures of earth are gone,
Cares when my false hopes with wings have flown;
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.

When I am weary and long for rest,
Somebody cares, Somebody cares,
When by the tempter I’m sorely pressed,
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.
Somebody cares, and, whate’er betide,
Walks ev’ry hour by the Christian’s side;
Love so amazing will e’er abide;
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.

Refrain
Somebody cares for me,
Somebody cares for me;
In all my life His kind hand I see,
Somebody cares-’tis Jesus.

Above the sweetest songs of earth

August 29

Above the sweetest songs of earth,
Thro’ all the strife of gain and loss,
Above the sounds of grief and mirth,
I hear the story of the cross.
That story is a tale of love
That wipes away the sinner’s tears;
It makes him heir of heav’n above,
And gives him joy thro’ endless years.

O none but Jesus bore such scorn,
No stricken lamb so meek as He;
No other brow so bruised by thorn,
No other heart so bled for me.
No other feet the winepress trod,
No other hand so freely gave,
No Savior like the Son of God!
No love like His to reach and save!

O blessed cross of sacrifice,
Where Jesus died for me, for me!
The cross of my Redeemer, Christ,
Who makes the guilty captive free!
That shining cross shall ever stand
For all of love that man can know;
Yet none may fully understand
The love that God alone can show.

Chorus
‘Tis the old, old story,
‘Tis the old, old story of the cross;
When eternity is hoary,
Precious still will be the story
Of redemption by the cross,
Of redemption by the cross.

If you love the Savior

August 28

If you love the Savior,
Show it in your life;
Lessen pain and sorrow,
Lessen sin and strife;
To the weak and weary
Strength and rest impart;
Cheer the saddened spirit,
Soothe the breaking heart.

If you love the Savior,
Show it ev’ry day
To the hearts that struggle,
To the souls that stray;
Ready be to comfort,
Willing be to cheer;
Show some needy brother
That a friend is near.

If you love the Savior,
Be for Him a pow’r;
Work for Him, and praise Him
Ev’ry day and hour;
Spread the gospel message,
Shed the gospel light,
Daily grow in kindness,
Faith, and love, and might.

Chorus
If you love the Savior,
Show it in your life;
Lessen pain and sorrow,
Lessen sin and strife.

What will you do with the King called Jesus

August 27

What will you do with the King called Jesus?
Many are waiting to hear you say;
Some have despised Him, rejecting His mercy;
What will you do with your King today?
What can you witness concerning His goodness,
Who died to save you from sin’s bitter thrall?
Who will declare Him the fairest of thousands?
Who now will crown Him the Lord of all?

What will you do for the King called Jesus,
He who for you left His throne above,
Here ‘mid the lowly and sinful to labor,
Daily unfolding his Father’s love?
Look on the fields white already to harvest,
Who now is willing to toil with the few?
What will you do for the dear Savior, Jesus?
Lo, He is waiting, He calls for you!

What will you do with the King called Jesus?
Who will submit to His gentle sway?
Where are the hearts ready now to enthrone Him?
Who will His kind commands obey?
Come with your ointments most costly and precious,
Pour out your gifts at the dear Savior’s feet;
Render to Him all your loyal devotion,
Seek to exalt Him by praises meet.

Chorus
What will you do with the King called Jesus?
What, O what will you do with Jesus?
He waits to bless all who humbly confess
Faith in His blood and righteousness.

Close to the heart of thy Savior

August 26

Close to the heart of thy Savior,
Sure of His tenderest care,
Rest while the storm cloud is raging,
Peace and protection are there.

Close to the heart of thy Savior,
Boundless the strength of His love;
He will sustain thee while trusting,
Bear thee on wings as a dove.

Close to the heart of thy Savior,
Dwell in this haven of peace;
Jesus, the Ruler of tempests,
Maketh the tumult to cease.

Chorus
Close to the heart of thy Savior,
Closer and closer each day;
Trusting His tender compassion,
He will not turn thee away.

There never was any like Him

August 25

There never was any one like Him,
The love of a soul to command-
Like Jesus, whose sympathy, boundless,
Can fully our hearts understand.

No other so cares for His dear ones,
No matter how feeble, how small;
There never was any one like Him,
So patient and tender to all.

There’s no one with friendship so loyal,
Or friendship that reaches so far,
As Jesus, whose love in all trial
Is love no estrangement can mar.

There never was any one like Him!
I cannot refuse Him my love;
And I in His footsteps must follow
Until I may see Him above.

Chorus
There never was any one like Him,
Never, never, never;
There never was any one like Him,
Like Jesus my Lord.

There are songs of joy that I loved to sing

August 24

There are songs of joy that I loved to sing,
When my heart was as blithe as a bird in spring;
But the song I have learned is so full of cheer,
That the dawn shines out in the darkness drear.

There are strains of home that are dear as life,
And I list to them oft ‘mid the din of strife;
But I know of a home that is wondrous fair,
And I sing the psalm they are singing there.

Can my lips be mute, or my heart be sad,
When the gracious Master hath made me glad?
When He points where the many mansions be,
And sweetly says, “There is one for thee?”

I shall catch the gleam of its jasper wall
When I come to the gloom of the evenfall,
For I know that the shadows, dreary and dim,
Have a path of light that will lead to Him.

Chorus
O the new, new song!
O the new, new song!
I can sing it now
With the ransomed throng:
Power and dominion to Him that shall reign;
Glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain.

What if the Master should come tonight

August 23

What if the Master should come tonight,
With the fading light,
What would He say to you and me,
And what would your answer be?

Plead would you then for a longer stay,
Ere the judgment day?
Plead would you then for squandered hours,
For time to regain lost powers?

What if the Master should come tonight,
With the fading light?
Stand you well girt with staff in hand,
Awaiting His last command!

Chorus
What if the Master should come tonight,
In the fading light, in the fading light?
What if the Master should come tonight,
In the fading light, in the fading light?

I'll be with Him by and by

August 22

I’ll be with Him by and by,
In the home beyond the sky;
With my Savior in His glory I’ll be there;
In the place prepared for me,
Far beyond life’s troubled sea,
I shall dwell with my Redeemer; I’ll be there.

I’ll be with Him by and by,
In the land beyond the sky;
In the glory of His presence I’ll be there;
With the happy blood-washed throng,
I shall sing redemption’s song,
Ever praising my Redeemer; I’ll be there.

I’ll be with Him by and by,
In the home beyond the sky;
With the saints of all the ages, I’ll be there;
With the faithful gone before,
I shall stand on yonder shore,
Face to face with my Redeemer; I’ll be there.

Chorus
I’ll be there, I’ll be there,
When my name is called up yonder, I’ll be there;
I’ll be there, I’ll be there,
And I’ll dwell with Him forever; I’ll be there.

If the Savior journey with me

August 21

If the Savior journey with me,
If He be my constant stay,
If His presence guide and keep me,
Thro’ the dark as thro’ the day;
I will fear no harm, dread no fierce alarm;
He for me the path of peace is seeking,
And the voice of love is speaking,
While He safely guards me all the way.

If the Savior journey with me,
If He be my faithful Friend,
If He never cease to love me,
Love and keep me to the end;
I will seek His face, I will plead His grace,
Trust my life to Him who ever liveth,
Give my all to Him who giveth
Love divine, that naught can e’er transcend.

If the Savior journey with me,
If He keep me at His side,
If He shield me from the dangers
That along my path may hide;
I will never stray from the perfect way,
Till at least I stand within the portal
Of the dwelling place immortal,
Where the blest of God shall e’er abide.

Chorus
If the Savior journey with me,
If His guiding hand He give me,
If His loving heart receive me,
I will love and trust Him all the way.

Bethlehem, Calvary, Olivet, tell

August 20

Bethlehem, Calvary, Olivet, tell,
O what a Savior is mine!
Mountain and plain with His praises shall swell,
O what a Savior is mine!

There, on the cross, where He died for my sin,
O what a Savior is mine!
Giving His life a poor wand’rer to win,
O what a Savior is mine!

Rising again, in His infinite grace,
O what a Savior is mine!
Shedding upon me the light of His face,
O what a Savior is mine!

Lifting my burdens, relieving my care,
O what a Savior is mine!
Giving me courage to do and to dare,
O what a Savior is mine!

Making a home for me over the tide,
O what a Savior is mine!
In His blest likeness I’ll wake satisfied,
O what a Savior is mine!

Chorus
O what a Savior!  O what a Savior!
O what a Savior is mine!
Unto the uttermost, wonderful, glorious!
O what a Savior is mine!

Tho' the skies may low'r above me

August 19

Tho’ the skies may low’r above me,
And the day be dark and drear;
Tho’ my soul is sore discouraged-
Almost overwhelmed with fear,
When I read the Father’s promise:
“I, the Lord, am always near,”
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds.

Clouds only for a moment,
Sunshine steadfast is, and sure,
And the love that never faileth
Keeps us sheltered and secure;
If we wait in trusting patience,
And the test of faith endure,
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds.

Are you ready to receive it?
Are your windows open wide?
God’s bright sun is always shining,
And His promises abide!
If we trust amidst the tempest,
While beneath His wings we hide,
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds.

Chorus
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds,
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds;
Tho’ the skies be dark above,
When we trust the Father’s love,
Then the sunshine comes breaking thro’ the clouds.

It may be in the valley, where countless dangers hide

August 18

It may be in the valley, where countless dangers hide;
It may be in the sunshine that I, in peace, abide;
But this one thing I know-if it be dark or fair,
If Jesus is with me, I’ll go anywhere!

It may be I must carry the blessed word of life
Across the burning deserts to those in sinful strife;
And tho’ it be my lot to bear my colors there,
If Jesus goes with me, I’ll go anywhere!

But if it be my portion to bear my cross at home,
While others bear their burdens beyond the billow’s foam,
I’ll prove my faith in Him-confess His judgments fair;
And if He stays with me, I’ll stay anywhere!

It is not mine to question the judgments of my Lord,
It is but mine to follow the leadings of His Word;
But if to go or stay, or whether here or there,
I’ll be, with my Savior, content anywhere!

Chorus
If Jesus goes with me, I’ll go anywhere!
‘Tis heaven to me, where’er I may be, if He is there!
I count it a privilege here His cross to bear;
If Jesus goes with me, I’ll go anywhere!

For God so loved this sinful world

August 17

For God so loved this sinful world,
His Son He freely gave,
That whosoever would believe,
Eternal life should have.

I was a wayward, wand’ring child,
A slave to sin and fear,
Until this blessed promise fell
Like music on my ear.

The “whosoever” of the Lord,
I trusted was for me;
I took Him at His gracious word,
From sin He set me free.

Eternal life, begun below,
Now fills my heart and soul;
I’ll sing His praise forevermore,
Who has redeemed my soul.

Chorus
‘Tis true, O yes, ‘tis true,
God’s wonderful promise is true,
For I’ve trusted, and tested, and tried it,
And I know God’s promise is true.

There is no sweeter time than this

August 16

There is no sweeter time than this,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
We taste with Him eternal bliss,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
We feel His presence, and we know
His love will never let us go;
We drop our burden and our woe,
The hour we spend with Jesus.

We hear His voice in mercy plead,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
He shows each heart its greatest need,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
What peace we find, what comfort sweet,
When gathered ‘round His mercy-seat;
There pardon and compassion meet,
The hour we spend with Jesus.

Redeeming love our theme shall be,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
Renewed by grace divine are we,
The hour we spend with Jesus;
O wondrous love! O sacred hour!
The clouds of sin no longer low’r,
We feel the Spirit’s quick’ning pow’r,
The hour we spend with Jesus.

Chorus
The hour we spend with Jesus,
How precious and how sweet,
To drop our care and leave it there,
And dwell in Him complete!

I have joy to overflowing, and I sing along the way

August 15

I have joy to overflowing, and I sing along the way,
Whether skies are bright, or clouds above me roll;
And the cause of all my gladness, all my songs by night and day,
Is the precious love of Jesus in my soul.

I can run and not be weary, I can walk and never faint,
Keeping steadfastly my eyes upon the goal;
And the pow’r that thus sustains me, keeps me free from all complaint,
Is the precious love of Jesus in my soul.

While I live I’ll sing His praises, and proclaim His matchless worth
Unto those who struggle under sin’s control;
For the only perfect peace and lasting happiness on earth,
Is the precious love of Jesus in the soul.

Chorus
‘Tis the love of Jesus in my soul,
Love of Him who made me whole;
For the joy of earth, ‘mid sin and strife,
Is the precious love of Jesus in the soul.

Jesus may come today

August 14

Jesus may come today,
Glad day!  Glad day!
And I would see my Friend;
Dangers and troubles would end
If Jesus should come today.

I may go home today,
Glad day!  Glad day!
Seemeth I hear their song;
Hail to the radiant throng!
If I should go home today.

Why should I anxious be?
Glad day!  Glad day!
Lights appear on the shore,
Storms will affright nevermore,
For He is “at hand” today.

Faithful I’ll be today,
Glad day!  Glad day!
And I will freely tell
Why I should love Him so well,
For He is my all today.

Chorus
Glad day!  Glad day!
Is it the crowning day?
I’ll live for today, nor anxious be,
Jesus, my Lord, I soon shall see;
Glad day!  Glad day!
Is it the crowning day?

A road there is, beginning

August 13

A road there is, beginning
At the cross where Jesus died;
It leads to home’s bright mansions,
And its gate stands open wide;
Only knock, and you shall enter;
All who will may walk therein,
Who will trust our only Savior,
And the blood that cleanseth sin.

Sometimes the sun is shining
On the blessed homeward way;
Sometimes the clouds that gather
Veil the brightness of the day;
But we know, in light or shadow,
There’s a fadeless sky beyond,
And the loving heart of Jesus
Will to ev’ry prayer respond.

There’s joy upon the journey,
For the Master speaks again:
“Lo, I am with you alway,”
On the hillside, thro’ the glen;
And our hopes are looking onward
To the home we’ll reach at last,
When the pilgrim days are over,
And the wayside changes passed.

O sweet reunions yonder,
When we meet the friends of yore,
Earth’s sun and shade forgotten
In the glory of that shore!
Dwelling face to face with Jesus,
Nevermore from Him to roam,
Clad in His own spotless beauty,
In the everlasting home!

Chorus
And the road leads home;
Yes, the road leads home;
Tho’ clouds may hover o’er us,
Yet, the road leads home;
For the road leads home,
Yes, the road leads home;
Tho’ trials may assail us,
Yet, the road leads home.

No matter hard hard goes the battle of life

August 12

No matter how hard goes the battle of life,
God’s children need never despair;
His conquering grace giveth peace ‘mid the strife,
There is wonderful pow’r in prayer.

We know that the roses not always will bloom,
The skies will not always be fair;
But go to the Father to brighten the gloom,
There is wonderful pow’r in prayer.

Perhaps you are seeking a soul far astray;
That name to the mercy-seat bear;
The Shepherd Himself will go with you today,
There is wonderful pow’r in prayer.

Thro’ all the swift changes that come to us here,
Till white robes of glory we wear,
We’ll look up to Jesus for comfort and cheer,
There is wonderful pow’r in prayer.

Chorus
Wonderful pow’r,
A wonderful pow’r in prayer;
For it moveth the Arm that moveth the worlds,
There’s a wonderful pow’r in prayer.

Do burdens oppress you

August 11

Do burdens oppress you?
Do sorrows distress you?
Let Jesus His pardon bestow.
His lifeblood He gave you
To ransom and save you:
Believe it-God says it is so.

Fear not the rough tossing,
Your Jordan now crossing,
Press on at His word of command;
Trust Him for the blessing,
And, Canaan possessing,
Go up and inherit the land.

His storehouse o’erfloweth,
And ever He knoweth
The yearning desires of each heart;
Your need cannot measure
The wealth of the treasure
He freely to all will impart.

The promises pleading,
Whatever you’re needing,
You’re certain from Him to receive;
Forever He liveth,
And, like a king, giveth
To all who will trust and believe.

Chorus
Believe it, receive it,
And seek His salvation to know;
Don’t wait till you feel it,
But trust and receive it:
Believe it-God says it is so.

We shall meet beyond the river

August 10

We shall meet beyond the river,
By and by, by and by;
And the darkness will be over,
By and by, by and by;
With the toilsome journey done,
And the glorious battle won,
We shall shine forth as the sun,
By and by, by and by.

We shall strike the harps of glory,
By and by, by and by;
We shall sing redemption’s story,
By and by, by and by;
And the strains forevermore
Shall resound in sweetness o’er
Yonder everlasting shore,
By and by, by and by.

We shall see and be like Jesus,
By and by, by and by;
Who a crown of life will give us,
By and by, by and by;
And the angels who fulfil
All the mandates of His will
Shall attend, and love us still,
By and by, by and by.

There our tears shall all cease flowing,
By and by, by and by;
And with sweetest rapture knowing,
By and by, by and by;
All the blest ones, who have gone
To the land of life and song,
We with shoutings shall rejoin,
By and by, by and by.

Sing it,-the love of the Savior

August 9

Sing it,-the love of the Savior,
Filling thy bosom today;
Sing of the gladness it brought thee,
Driving all sorrow away.
Sing of the sins all forgiven,
Sing of the heaven to be,
Sing, “I was once a poor sinner,”
Sing, “By God’s grace I am free.”

Tell it,-the love that sought after
Wayward and wandering feet;
Love that was full of compassion,
Love that was tender and sweet.
Tell how this love of thy Savior
Sought thee by night and by day,
Till thou no more couldst resist it,-
Tell it to others, I pray.

Live it,-this love of thy Savior,
Let the world see it in thee;
Be by thy life an evangel,
Till all Christ’s beauty may see.
Tell it, and scatter the sunshine,
Sing as you journey along;
Live out the love that is in thee,
Fill the whole world with thy song.

Chorus
Sing it, sing it,
Sing it to all by the way;
Tell it, tell it,
Sing it and tell it today.

Earnest workers, Jesus calls you

August 8

Earnest workers, Jesus calls you,
Words of promise brings to you;
Strong in Him, whate’er befalls you,
Render service brave and true.

Steadfast to the field of labor,
Where His hand is guiding thee;
Yours to help a needy neighbor;
Tell His love, so full and free.

Larger now the field is growing;
Worldwide is the call today,
While with hope the sky is glowing;
Forward, up love’s shining way.

Earnest workers, there’s a blessing
In the task assigned to you;
More and more His grace possessing,
Haste, the Master’s will to do.

Chorus
Hear the voice of Jesus pleading!
Onward, with a song of cheer;
Ev’ry word He bids you heeding,
For the twilight hour is near.

Dark the storm is raging

August 7

Dark the storm is raging,
And loud the breaker’s roar;
See, a ship is sinking,
Help cometh from the shore.
A swimmer strong and dauntless,
Defies each foaming crest;
This his only question:
“O have I done my best?”

Many souls are shipwrecked
Upon life’s stormy main;
Let us do our utmost
Some soul for Christ to gain;
Be true and brave and fearless,
For they are sore distressed;
While the lost are dying,
Let each one do his best.

Swiftly time is flying,
The day will soon be o’er,
Night will gather round us;
‘Tis now or nevermore.
Then, faithful to our duty,
Obeying love’s behest,
Soon we’ll bear His “Welcome,
For ye have done your best.”

Chorus
When the Master calls us,
Shall we stand the test?
For the love of Jesus,
O have we done our best
To rescue dying seamen and bring them into rest?
Can we say at even, “Yes, we have done our best?”

O softly the Spirit is whisp'ring to me

August 6

O softly the Spirit is whisp’ring to me,
With tender compassion, with pitying plea;
I hear His beseeching, and earnestly pray
That Jesus will make me a blessing today.

Some heart may be longing for only a word,
Whose love by the Spirit is quickened and stirred;
Now grant, blessed Savior, this service to me,
Of speaking a comforting message for Thee.

Some soul may be plunged in the darkest despair,
Whose shadows would melt in the sunlight of prayer;
O give me, dear Savior, I humbly implore,
The sweet consolation that soul to restore.

Come, all ye that labor, ye weary and worn,
Come, ye who in sorrow or sinfulness mourn;
With me this petition to Jesus convey:
O make me a blessing, dear Savior, today.

Chorus
Lord, make me a blessing today,
A blessing to some one, I pray;
In all that I do, in all that I say,
O make me a blessing today.

Wherever there is sorrow

August 5

Wherever there is sorrow,
Wherever there is woe,
Wherever there is trouble
On any path you go;
O wait not for another
To heed love’s great command;
Reach out, reach out a helping hand.

When stricken hearts are sorest,
Be quickest to respond;
When earthly props have broken,
Point to the Help beyond.
O speak of Him who comforts,
Who soothes the worst alarms,
Who holds beneath His loving arms.

Rejoice or weep with others,
With sympathizing heart;
Or fortify the tempted
To act the nobler part.
The weak are round you falling:
O help them strong to stand!
Reach out, reach out a helping hand.

Chorus
Reach out a helping hand,
Reach out a helping hand,
Reach out a helping hand to falling ones around;
Reach out a helping hand,
Reach out a helping hand,
Reaching out a helping hand that lost ones may be found.

I sought for a golden harvest

August 4

I sought for a golden harvest,
I sought it from shore to shore;
Returning in doubt and sorrow,
I found it lay close at my door:
I sought for a wonderful jewel,
I sought it far over the strand,
I found it at last in my pathway,
‘Twas lying there close to my hand.

The harvest for which we’re longing
Are sheaves for that great, great day:
The wonderful, precious jewels
Are souls that are going astray.
The harvest is waiting our gleaning,
To yield us the ripe, golden wheat;
The wonderful, wonderful jewels
Are lying so close to our feet.

We’re longing to bring to Jesus
Some service far reaching, grand;
He bids us to seek around us,
The harvest is close to our hand.
Today He is bidding us seek them,
The sinful, the lowly and poor,
The wonderful, wonderful jewels
Are lying so close to our door.

Chorus
O teach us, dear Lord, of the harvest,
To gather the ripe, golden wheat,
The wonderful, wonderful jewels,
And lay them at Thy blessed feet.

Saved, but not serving, my brother

August 3

Saved, but not serving, my brother,
Saved from your guilt, sin and woe?
Saved by the shed blood of Jesus,
And no debt of service you owe?

Bought with the blood of the Savior,
You, who were guilty of crime?
Pardoned, and yet you are saying,
To serve Him you cannot find time.

Saved, but with no tho’t of serving
Him, who served you with His life?
Selfishly using your freedom,
Nor heeding His call to the strife?

Talents, tho’ feeble, should serve Him,
Moments be used as His own;
Tasks that are mighty or lowly
Should be for His glory alone.

Chorus
We’re saved for the service of Jesus,
Saved for His glory and praise;
We’re saved for the perishing millions,
Let service for Him fill our days.

Safe in the arms of Jesus

August 2

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast;
There, by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! ’tis the voice of angels,
Borne in a song to me,
Over the fields of glory,
Over the jasper sea.

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe from corroding care;
Safe from the world’s temptations,
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
Only a few more tears.

Jesus, my heart’s dear refuge,
Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages,
Ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience,
Wait till the night is o’er;
Wait till I see the morning
Break on the golden shore.

Refrain
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast;
There, by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.

The light that shines this moment

August 1

The light that shines this moment
Will never shine again;
Another link is added
To mercy’s length’ning chain;
So let us use the sunshine
That gilds the passing hour,
Some other life to brighten
With love’s transforming pow’r.

Our very steps are counted;
We never can retrace
The way the Master leads us
By His abundant grace;
But as we journey onward,
We’ll sow along the way
The seeds that bloom in gladness,
In everlasting day.

Time turns on golden hinges
The doors to service true;
They swiftly close around us,
Unless we enter thro’;
The words we might have spoken,
The good we might have done,
Bring but a sad remembrance
When comes the setting sun.

The light that shines this moment
Will never shine again;
But truly used for Jesus,
It will not die in vain;
He asks not great achievements;
He only wants the heart
To His own love surrendered,
And humbly set apart.

Chorus
‘Twill never, never, never,
‘Twill never shine again,
The light that falls this moment
On mountain, lake and glen;
We’ll bring a joy to others,
Or lessen someone’s pain,
For the light we might be using
Will never shine again.
