Jesus is all the world to me,
My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day-
Without Him I would fall.
When I am sad, to Him I go,
No other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, He makes me glad,
He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me,
My Friend in trials sore;
I go to Him for blessings, and
He gives them o’er and o’er.
He sends the sunshine and the rain,
He sends the harvest’s golden grain;
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain,
He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me,
And true to Him I’ll be;
O how could I this Friend deny,
When He’s so true to me?
Following Him, I know I’m right;
He watches o’er me day and night;
Following Him, by day and night,
He’s my Friend.
Jesus is all the world to me,
I want no better Friend;
I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when
Life’s fleeting days shall end.
Beautiful life with such a Friend,
Beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy,
He’s my Friend.
Will L. Thompson

We shall be like Him, O wonderful tho't
July 30
We shall be like Him, O wonderful tho’t!
Blessed the hope the assurance hath wrought:
Changed from the sorrow and trials of years,
We shall be like Him, when Jesus appears.
Eye hath not seen, nor hath ear ever heard
What we shall be, but a voice from His word
Whispers a message that charms all our fears,-
We shall be like Him, when Jesus appears.
Why, then, repine when the roadway is rough?
Are not His word and the promise enough?
Rainbows of love span the valley of tears;
We shall be like Him, when Jesus appears.
We shall be like Him, the Hope of the soul;
We shall be like Him, made perfectly whole;
Caught up with saints, as the firmament clears,
We shall be like Him, when Jesus appears.
Chorus
We shall be like Him,
O how the promise cheers!
We shall be like Him, when Jesus appears.

I have nothing to do with tomorrow
July 29
I have nothing to do with tomorrow,
Its sunlight I never may see;
So today with the plow in the furrow,
In the vineyard I faithful would be.
Other workers may gather the harvest,
And reap from the fields I have sown,
But if still I am faithful in sowing,
I shall hear from my Master, “Well done.”
So I’ve nothing to do with tomorrow;
Its burdens then why should I bear?
Should He fill it with joy or with sorrow,
He will help me with Him all to share.
Refrain
I have nothing to do with tomorrow,
My Savior will make that His care;
Its grace and its strength I can’t borrow,
So why should I borrow its care?

“Nobody cares for me!” how sad the word
July 28
“Nobody cares for me!” how sad the word;
Have you forgotten the dear Son of God,
Who on the rugged tree
Suffered for you and me-
Loves us eternally?
O how He cares!
“Nobody cares for me!” why this sad cry?
Jesus has cared for you enough to die.
He is your truest friend;
You may on Him depend;
Your life He will defend:
O how He cares!
Somebody cares for you-pass it along,
Cheer some one else out in life’s busy throng;
Some one may need this word,
Some lonely heart be stirred
To seek and find your Lord:
O how He cares!
Chorus
Somebody cares for you,
Somebody loves you,
Somebody cares for you tho’ you forget;
His hand has led you,
His love has fed you;
God always cared for you, cares for you yet.

When trouble rests upon me, and no cheering voice I hear
July 27
When trouble rests upon me, and no cheering voice I hear,
When heart and mind for consolation plead,
I read the precious Bible, for, between its covers dear,
I always find the blessing that I need.
When breaks the tempest o’er me, or with sorrow I am pressed,
When not an earthly friend my plea will heed,
I read the dear old Bible, for, within its pages blest,
I always find the blessing that I need.
When darkness hides my pathway, or when sin my heart assails,
Or pleasures vain my soul astray would lead,
I read my precious Bible, for it never, never fails
To give to me the blessing that I need.
Chorus
I always find the blessing that I need,
The Bible is to me a friend indeed;
For it brings me peace and light,
Blessings sweet by day and night,-
It always holds the blessing that I need.

Have we learned the secret of the Christian's pow'r
July 26
Have we learned the secret of the Christian’s pow’r?
Victory, victory, all the way along;
List’ning and obeying, trusting ev’ry hour,
Victory all along thro’ Jesus.
By the Word indwelling, “watching unto prayer,”
Victory, victory, all the way along;
Resting, while we serve Him, in His keeping care,
Victory all along thro’ Jesus.
Let Him do the planning, let Him use our days,
Victory, victory, all the way along;
Yielding to His Spirit, His shall be the praise;
Victory all along thro’ Jesus.
Only “earthen vessels,” His the treasure rare,
Victory, victory, all the way along;
Humbly overcoming,-then the mansions fair;
Victory all along thro’ Jesus.
Chorus
Victory, victory, all the way along,
Lift Immanuel’s banner, marching on with song;
Christ shall have the kingdom, right shall conquer wrong:
Victory thro’ Jesus, all the way along.

'Tis our faith in Jesus
July 25
‘Tis our faith in Jesus,
Brings the promise near;
‘Tis the love of Jesus,
Conquers ev’ry fear;
‘Tis the voice of Jesus,
Warns us ev’ry day;
‘Tis the blood of Jesus,
Takes our sins away.
‘Tis our trust in Jesus,
Makes us bold and brave;
‘Tis our hope in Jesus,
Looks beyond the grave;
‘Tis the smile of Jesus,
Makes the clouds depart;
‘Tis the eye of Jesus,
Searches ev’ry heart.
‘Tis the ear of Jesus,
Bending from the sky,
Hears the prayers we offer,
Hears the mourner’s cry;
On the arm of Jesus,
Sweetly we repose;
From the side of Jesus,
Living water flows.
Refrain
Jesus in our trials,
Jesus in our cares,
Jesus in our praises,
Jesus in our prayers,
Jesus in our sorrows,
Jesus in our song,
O ‘tis always Jesus,
All our way along.

There's sorrow and sadness on every side
July 24
There’s sorrow and sadness on every side,
And trials how often we meet;
Let this be our watchword whatever betide,
“Just shine and keep sweet.”
Shine brightest for Jesus when darkest the way,
When fierce opposition you meet;
His love can change midnight to radiant noonday;
“Just shine and keep sweet.”
His grace is sufficient whatever the test,
You never need suffer defeat;
Then scatter the sunlight, let others be blest;
“Just shine and keep sweet.”
Then walk in the light with God’s glory in view,
Salvation is full and complete;
Keep looking to Jesus, He’ll carry you through;
“Just shine and keep sweet.”
Chorus
Shine and keep sweet, shine and keep sweet,
No matter what obstacles here you may meet;
With God on your side, ev’ry foe ‘neath your feet,
Just shine, brother, shine and keep sweet.

There's a fight to be fought and a victory won
July 23
There’s a fight to be fought and a victory won;
There’s a cause to be gained and a race to be run;
We must each lend a hand in the good work begun;
We can, by God’s grace, if we will.
We must send or must go with the life-giving Word,
For so many the gospel have never yet heard;
Let us quickly away to the task long deferred;
We can, by God’s grace, if we will.
Some the gospel must preach to the heathen at home;
Some the tidings must bear far across ocean’s foam;
All must labor and pray that His kingdom may come;
We can, by God’s grace, if we will.
Tho’ our strength may be small and our talents be few,
There is something worth while ev’ry one yet may do;
With our trust in the Lord and His glory in view,
We can, by God’s grace, if we will.
Chorus
Yes, we can, by God’s grace, if we will,
We can, by God’s grace, if we will;
Let us then boldly say, as we labor and pray,
We can, by God’s grace, and we will.

When heavy my burden and steep the way
July 22
When heavy my burden and steep the way,
And powers of darkness their rage display-
Whenever the skies have an angry look,
I find what I need in the grand old Book.
When trouble or sorrow assails my heart,
When called from my loved ones in tears to part,
I open my Bible and there I find
A promise of hope with my grief entwined.
When darkness enfolds me and hides the goal,
When pleasures of earth would allure my soul,
I turn to the Book that was mother’s guide;-
She speaks as tho’ I were still at her side.
O beautiful Bible, O grand old Book,
My heart is aglow as on thee I look;
It points me to Jesus, the Word of God,
And beckons me up by the path He trod.
Chorus
I find what I need in the grand old Book-
So also could you, if you would but look;
In sorrow or joy naught can annoy;
I find what I need in the grand old Book.

There’s joy in the homeland, there’s plenty and peace
July 21
There’s joy in the homeland, there’s plenty and peace,
A welcome for souls gone astray;
Glad songs over sinners returning ne’er cease,-
Tell some one the story today.
The sinful and weary find pardon and rest,
The lame may be healed in the way;
Believing in Jesus, each soul may be blest;-
Tell some one the story today.
For love like the Master’s, for wisdom to win,
For patience and tenderness pray;
And, weeping, go forth to the highways of sin;-
Tell some one the story today.
The last great commandment of Jesus your King,
Be earnest and swift to obey;
To help the good Shepherd His “other sheep” bring,
Tell some one the story today.
Chorus
Tell some one the story today,
Tell some one, tell some one;
Tell some one the story, ‘twill add to His glory;
Tell some one the story today.

Just to see Jesus, whose love is so precious
July 20
Just to see Jesus, whose love is so precious!
Jesus my Savior! my Helper is He;
Just to see Jesus fill heaven with gladness,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
Just to see Jesus, once scarred as Redeemer!
Jesus my Lord, from all suffering free;
Just to see Jesus transfigured forever,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
Just to see Jesus in heaven exalted!
Jesus, who died upon Calvary’s tree;
Just to see Jesus, with sainted ones singing,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
Just to see Jesus when saved ones are gath’ring!
Dying as Savior, now risen is He;
Just to see Jesus-to bow in His presence-
That will be glory, be glory for me.
Chorus
Just to see Jesus receiving His glory,
Wonderful Savior, Hallelujah! ‘tis He!
Just to see Jesus, to praise and adore Him,
That will be glory, be glory for me.

I am waling in the light, and my pathway shineth bright
July 19
I am walking in the light, and my pathway shineth bright,
To the city that is built for me above;
With the Savior near my side, as my steadfast Friend and Guide,
I can daily sing the songs of faith and love.
O how cheering are the beams that with heav’nly luster stream
Down upon me from the sacred realms of light;
With a radiant heart I’ll go thro’ this darkened world of woe;
I will tell my joy till all around grows bright.
Singing praises all the way, trusting Jesus day by day,
I am walking where He guides my willing feet;
With the brightness of His smile falling on me all the while,
Shadows vanish, and my soul has comfort sweet.
Chorus
I am walking in the blessed light
God doth give to those who know His grace;
I am walking in the light till some day my raptured sight
Shall behold the glory of His shining face.

Mighy to save us and strong to deliver
July 18
Mighty to save us and strong to deliver,
Jesus, the merciful Savior of men;
His is the pow’r and the glory forever;
Ring out the jubilant watchword again.
Mighty to save us, the poor and the lowly,
Bidding us trust in His wonderful love;
Seeking the lost, He, the High and the Holy,
Left His bright home in the kingdom above.
Mighty to save us, the weak and the straying,
Strong to deliver from evil and sin;
Over the vanquished His banner displaying,
Till, by His Spirit, the vict’ry we win.
Mighty to save us, O beautiful story!
Over the cross shines the crown of His grace;
Saved for sweet service, we’ll sing of His glory,
Kept by His pow’r till we see face to face.

Mighty to save and strong to deliver,
Mighty to save, mighty to save;
Mighty to save and strong to deliver
All who will come thro’ His name;

Sowing the seed by the daylight fair
July 17
Sowing the seed by the daylight fair,
Sowing the seed by the noonday glare,
Sowing the seed by the fading light,
Sowing the seed in the solemn night;
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Sowing the seed by the wayside high,
Sowing the seed on the rocks to die,
Sowing the seed where the thorns will spoil,
Sowing the seed in the fertile soil;
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Sowing the seed of a ling’ring pain,
Sowing the seed of a maddened brain,
Sowing the seed of a tarnished name,
Sowing the seed of eternal shame;
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Sowing the seed with an aching heart,
Sowing the seed while the teardrops start,
Sowing in hope till the reapers come
Gladly to gather the harvest home;
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Oh, what shall the harvest be?
Chorus
Sown in the darkness or sown in the light,
Sown in our weakness or sown in our might,
Gathered in time or eternity,
Sure, ah, sure will the harvest be.

Sing on, ye joyful pilgrims
July 16
Sing on, ye joyful pilgrims,
Nor think the moments long;
My faith is heav’nward rising
With ev’ry tuneful song;
Lo! on the mount of blessing,
The glorious mount I stand;
And, looking over Jordan,
I see the promised land!
Sing on, ye joyful pilgrims,
While here on earth we stay;
Let songs of home and Jesus
Beguile each fleeting day;
Sing on the grand old story
Of His redeeming love;
The everlasting chorus
That fills the realms above.
Sing on, ye joyful pilgrims,
The time will not be long,
Till in our Father’s kingdom
We swell a nobler song;
Where those we love are waiting
To greet us on the shore,
We’ll meet beyond the river,
Where surges roll no more.
Refrain
Sing on! O blissful music,
With ev’ry note you raise,
My heart is filled with rapture,
My soul is lost in praise.
Sing on! O blissful music,
With ev’ry note you raise,
My heart is filled with rapture,
My soul is lost in praise.

While here on earth we stay;
Let songs of home and Jesus
Beguile each fleeting day;
Sing on the grand old story
Of His redeeming love;
The everlasting chorus
That fills the realms above.
Sing on, ye joyful pilgrims,
The time will not be long,
Till in our Father’s kingdom
We swell a nobler song;
Where those we love are waiting
To greet us on the shore,
We’ll meet beyond the river,
Where surges roll no more.
Refrain
Sing on! O blissful music,
With ev’ry note you raise,
My heart is filled with rapture,
My soul is lost in praise.
Sing on! O blissful music,
With ev’ry note you raise,
My heart is filled with rapture,
My soul is lost in praise.

When you receive no answer to prayer
July 15
When you receive no answer to prayer,
Never lose faith nor yield to despair;
Give unto Jesus your burden of care,
Keep on believing in the promises of God.
Doubt not the Lord when tempted and tried;
Worlds pass away, His Word shall abide!
He is almighty, in Him you may hide,
Keep on believing in the promises of God.
Tho’ you should walk in darkness awhile,
Over the thorns for many a mile,
Watch for the dawning, and sing with a smile,
Keep on believing in the promises of God.
Chorus
Keep on believing, keep on believing,
Keep on believing in the promises of God;
Tho’ delay may long endure,
Yet the answer will be sure:
Keep on believing in the promises of God.

One little moment, and earthly affliction
July 14
One little moment, and earthly affliction
God, in His love, will remove from our way;
Sorrow and sighing will vanish forever,
Darkness and night will be turned into day.
One little moment the cross we must carry,
One little moment our trials we bear;
Far more exceeding the crown of rejoicing,
When we with Jesus His triumph shall share.
Just in a moment, in bright clouds of glory,
Jesus Himself shall descend from above;
What then will seem all these passing afflictions,
Lost in the joy of victorious love?
Chorus
Only a moment,
One little moment-
Then we shall see Him, the Savior we love;
Just in a moment
Changed to His likeness,
Caught up together to meet Him above.

Not a sound invades the stillness
July 13
Not a sound invades the stillness,
Not a form invades the scene,
Save the voice of my Beloved
And the person of my King.
And within those heav’nly places,
Calmly hushed in sweet repose,
There I drink with joy absorbing
All the love Thou wouldst disclose.
Wrapt in deep, adoring silence,
Jesus, Lord, I dare not move,
Lest I lose the smallest saying
Meant to catch the ear of love.
Rest, then, O my soul, contented;
Thou hast reached thy happy place
In the bosom of thy Savior,
Gazing up in His dear face.
Chorus
Precious, gentle, holy Jesus!
Blessed Bridegroom of my heart,
In Thy secret inner chamber,
Thou wilt whisper what Thou art.

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
July 12
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song;
As the burdens press,
And the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?
Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades
Into night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?
Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist temptation strong?
When in my deep grief
I find no relief,
Tho’ my tears flow all the night long?
Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches
Till it nearly breaks-
Is this aught to Him? Does He see?
Chorus
O yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary,
The long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Who will follow Jesus
July 11
Who will follow Jesus,
Standing for the right,
Holding up His banner
In the thickest fight?
List’ning for His orders,
Ready to obey,
Who will follow Jesus,
Serving Him today?
Who will follow Jesus
In life’s busy ways,
Working for the Master,
Giving Him the praise;
Earnest in His vineyard,
Honoring His laws,
Faithful to His counsel,
Watchful for His cause?
Who will follow Jesus;
When the tempter charms,
Fleeing, then, for safety
To the Savior’s arms;
Trusting in His mercy,
Trusting in His pow’r,
Seeking fresh renewals
Of His grace each hour?
Who will follow Jesus
In His work of love,
Leading others to Him,
Lifting prayers above?
Courage, faithful servant!
In His word we see,
On our side forever
Will this Savior be.
Refrain
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
“I am on the Lord’s side;
Master, here am I”
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
“I am on the Lord’s side;
Master, here am I?”

Homeward I go rejoicing
July 10
Homeward I go rejoicing!
O lovely promised land,
Far in the distance gleaming
I see thy shining strand.
Homeward to meet the Savior
On that eternal shore;
Wonderful land of Canaan,
Where sorrows come no more.
Homeward I go, believing
That there shall be no night
In that eternal city,
Where God Himself is light.
Chorus
Homeward to join the ransomed,
Beyond the borders of the crystal sea;
Homeward to joys eternal,
And O how sweet the rest will be!

Be not dismayed whate'er betide
July 9
Be not dismayed whate'er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
Thro’ days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.
All you may need He will provide,
God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.
No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon His breast,
God will take care of you.
Chorus
God will take care of you,
Thro’ every day,
O’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

Eye to eye I shall behold my Savior
July 8
Eye to eye I shall behold my Savior,
When I reach that land of bliss above;
O what rapture shall be mine forever
Thus to dwell with Him whom here I love!
Eye to eye! how small will seem earth’s trials
When I gaze into those beaming eyes,
As His voice divine shall bid me welcome
To that home prepared beyond the skies!
Eye to eye! O keep me true, dear Savior,
For the morning swiftly draweth nigh
When Thy faithful ones with joy shall greet Thee,
Evermore to see Thee, eye to eye.
Chorus
Eye to eye! no mist shall dim my vision!
With no veil between I then shall see
My Redeemer who so dearly loved me
That He gave His precious life for me.

How sweet the old, old gospel
July 7
How sweet the old, old gospel,
The message, “Look and live!”
The right to call him Father, God
Has said He’d freely give.
There is no condemnation
To children of the Lord;
Their refuge is His holy name,
Their merit is His blood.
And when we reach the glory,
Thro’ riches of His grace,
We shall be wholly like our Lord,
When we behold His face.
Chorus
“As many as received Him,
As many as believed Him,
To them He gave the power
To become the sons of God;”
As many as receive Him,
As many as believe Him,
Have now a full redemption
Thro’ the Savior’s precious blood.

Jesus! what a Friend for sinners
July 6
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul!
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.
Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my vict’ry wins.
Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.
Jesus! what a Guide and Keeper!
While the tempest still is high,
Storms about me, night o’ertakes me,
He, my Pilot, hears my cry.
Jesus! I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find.
He hath granted me forgiveness;
I am His, and He is mine.
Chorus
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He’ll be with me to the end.

Long you have pled at the throne of his grace
July 5
Long you have pled at the throne of his grace,
Shed bitter tears in that sweet, hallowed place;
Yet, tho’ it seem he is hiding his face,
Keep on praying, God will answer your prayer.
Doubt not his love, nor his promise assail;
Only believe, for his word cannot fail;
“Ask what ye will,” and your plea shall avail,
Keep on praying, God will answer your prayer.
In his own time, in his own perfect way,-
He knoweth best-it is thine to obey;
Tho’ you receive no assurance today,
Keep on praying, God will answer your prayer.
Never despair, he is faithful and true;
Keep holding on, there is vict’ry for you;
All you can ask, he is able to do,-
Keep on praying, God will answer your prayer.
Chorus
Keep on praying, keep on praying,
You shall have your reward, sometime, somewhere;
Trust him, believe, and thy guerdon receive;
Keep on praying, God will answer your prayer.

As a tree beside the water
July 4
As a tree beside the water
Has the Savior planted me;
All my fruit shall be in season,
I shall live eternally.
Tho’ the tempest rage around me,
Thro’ the storm my Lord I see,
Pointing upward to that haven,
Where my loved ones wait for me.
When by grief my heart is broken,
And the sunshine steals away,
Then his grace, in mercy given,
Changes darkness into day.
When at last I stand before him,
O what joy it will afford,
Just to see the sinner ransomed,
And behold my sov’reign Lord.
Chorus
I shall not be moved,
I shall not be moved;
Anchored to the Rock of Ages,
I shall not be moved.

If you can not cross the ocean
July 3
If you can not cross the ocean,
And the heathen lands explore,
You may find the heathen nearer,
You may help them at your door;
If you can not give your thousands,
You can give the widow’s mite;
And the least you do for Jesus
Will be precious in his sight.
If you can not sing like angels,
If you can not preach like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus,
You can say, “He died for all;”
If you can not rouse the wicked
With the judgment’s dread alarms,
You can lead the little children
To the Savior’s waiting arms.
Let none hear you idly saying,
“There is nothing I can do,”
While the souls of men are dying,
And the Master calls for you:
Take the task he gives you gladly,
Let his work your pleasure be;
Answer quickly when he calleth,
“Here am I, send me, send me.”

Holy Father, thou hast taught me
July 1
Holy Father, thou hast taught me
I should live to thee alone;
Year by year thy hand hath brought me
On through dangers oft unknown;
When I wandered, thou hast found me,
When I doubted, sent me light;
Still thine arm has been around me,
All my paths were in thy sight.
In the world will foes assail me,
Craftier, stronger far than I;
And the strife may never fail me,
Well I know, before I die.
Therefore, Lord, I come, believing
Thou canst give the power I need;
Through the prayer of faith receiving
Strength-the Spirit's strength, indeed.
I would trust in thy protecting,
Wholly rest upon thine arm;
Follow wholly thy directing,
Thou, mine only guard from harm!
Keep me from mine own undoing,
Help me turn to thee when tried,
Still my footsteps, Father, viewing,
Keep me ever at thy side.
