O Word of God, how marvelous

O Word of God, how marvelous
Thy wisdom and thy pow’r!
How manifold thy mightiness
To meet our need each hour!

With sound of thy sweet promises
Our longing hearts beat time;
Thy messages waft melody,
Like bells at ev’ning chime!

Thy warnings sound, how solemnly,
Alarms deep toned and dark;
Like fog bells on the rocky coast
That guide the storm tossed bark!

Thy piloting how sure, how safe,
Until, all breakers passed,
We triumph o’er each hurricane,
And anchor, home at last!

Chorus
O Word of God, how wondrously
Does thy sweet voice resound;
What gracious lovingkindnesses
In ev’ry tone abound!

My Father loves, and He knows and cares

My Father loves, and He knows and cares,
And this keeps my mind in peace;
I may safely rest,
He will do what’s best,
For His goodness never will cease.

My Father knows when my way is dark,
And storm clouds are overhead;
He will choose my way,
Lead me day by day,
For He knows each step which I tread.

My Father cares when I’m left alone,
As loved ones are called away;
When each dear one goes,
Still my Father knows,-
He will let me join them some day.

Chorus
My Father’s love-such tender love,
He feels for His child today;
He can soothe my sorrow,
Give a bright tomorrow,-
I’ll trust my Father’s love!

Lift up your heads, O eternal gates

Lift up your heads, O eternal gates!
Lift up, ye doors, for the King who awaits,
Clothed in His beauty and armed with might,
Crowned with salvation and glory and light!

Unto the captive proclaim release,
Unto the warrior the tidings of peace;
High over all will His banner wave,
Strong to deliver and mighty to save!

Blessed Redeemer desired so long!
Welcome Him now with a jubilant song;
He is our ransom from death and sin;
Lift up your heads, let the King enter in!

Chorus
Lift your heads, eternal gates!
Christ the King of glory will enter in!

The Saviour’s hand is clasping mine

The Saviour’s hand is clasping mine,
And all is well!
I’m blessed with fellowship divine,
And all is well!
I’m free at last from sin’s control,
And moving onward tow’rd the goal;
My Saviour’s love makes glad my soul,
And all is well!

I hear my Saviour’s whisper sweet,
And all is well!
He shields my soul when foes I meet,
And all is well!
No more beneath a load I bend;
My sighing days have had an end,
For I have found a perfect Friend,
And all is well!

My Saviour’s loving smile I see,
And all is well!
My hope, my joy, my life is He,
And all is well!
As in the sunshine of His face,
The narrow homeward path I trace,
I sing of His redeeming grace,
And all is well!

Chorus
All is well!  all is well!
My precious Guide is at my side,
And all is well!

Saved and kept by the power divine

Saved and kept by the power divine,
Saved to the uttermost, Jesus is mine!
He's redemption and righteousness too,
Trusting in Him all my life is made new.

Saved and kept ev’ry step of the way;
Christ is a Savior who saves ev’ry day,
Saves from bondage of sin and of strife,
Keeps in the sphere of His glorious life.

Saved and kept, never doubting His word,
Filled with the peace and the joy of my Lord;
Saved! no angel its meaning can know;
Kept by His grace daily whiter than snow!

Saved and kept till I look on His face,
Kept by Him unto the end of the race,
How my glad heart forever shall sing
Praises to Jesus, my Savior and King!

Chorus
Saved and kept, O the glorious word!
Saved and kept by a wonderful Lord!
He who was dead and is risen from the grave,
Lives and is able to keep and to save.

I am saved from my sin, and to joy enter in

I am saved from my sin, and to joy enter in,-
With the heart I believe on the Saviour;
I have wonderful peace, from my burdens release,-
I believe on the Son of God.

‘Tis by faith I can say Jesus saves me today,-
With the heart I believe on the Saviour;
Waves of love o’er me roll, all is well with my soul,-
I believe on the Son of God.

There is comfort and rest on His sheltering breast,-
With the heart I believe on the Saviour;
I will praise Him in song, tell His love all day long,-
I believe on the Son of God.

Chorus
I believe, I believe,
With the heart I believe on the Saviour;
I believe, I believe,
I believe on the Son of God!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One,
Ransomed from sin and a new work begun,
Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One,
The angels rejoicing because it is done;
A child of the Father, joint heir with the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The Father, He spoke, and His will it was done;
Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son;
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
All hail to the Father, all hail to His Son,
All hail to the Spirit, the great Three in One!
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Chorus
Saved!  saved!  my sins are all pardoned,
My guilt is all gone;
Saved!  saved!
I am saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Resting in His love at His blessed feet

Resting in His love at His blessed feet,
All my heart goes forth in joyous song;
Trusting Him for pow’r ev’ry day and hour,
By His grace divine He makes me strong.

Resting in His love by the waters still,
Sweet communion with my Lord I hold;
E’en the darkest way brighter grows each day,
As new visions of His might unfold.

Resting in His love, kept in perfect peace,
Till the home of homes with joy I see;
Where the angels sing praises to their King,
In the light of God eternally.

Chorus
Resting in His love that ransom’d me,
Trusting in His grace so full and free,
I shall see my Lord some day,
Where His glory shines for aye,
Resting in His love forevermore!

No more I fear the longest night

No more I fear the longest night,
Nor dread the darkest day,
For One is always near my side
Along the homeward way.

Tho’ rough and steep the path has grown,
He cheers me with His smile;
His tender words of comfort sweet
The lonely hours beguile.

Thro’ all the dangers of the way
My heart is undismayed;
I touch His hand, I hear His voice,
And I am not afraid.

Grown weary with the toilsome way
I lean upon His breast,
And in the silence calm and sweet,
Within His love I rest.

Chorus
All the way home,
All the way home,
My Saviour walks beside me
All the way home.
All the way home,
All the way home,
My Saviour walks beside me
All the way home!

Missing the lost, O Shepherd true,

Missing the lost, O Shepherd true,
Leaving Thy home in glory,
Thou camest to earth, the lost to woo;
O wonderful, wonderful story!

Seeking the scattered, O Shepherd true,
Over the desert straying;
Thou bearest a cross none ever knew,
Thy love all its sorrow outweighing.

Healing the wounded, Shepherd true,
Pouring in oil of gladness;
Restoring the souls sin overthrew,
Thou givest them comfort for sadness.

Tending the faithful, Shepherd true,
Daily Thy tables spreading,
They feed in the pastures ever new,
No want and no enemy dreading.

Chorus

O wonderful, wonderful story,
Melting the heart to tears!
O wonderful, wonderful story,
Growing richer and richer with years!

O precious seal of love divine

O precious seal of love divine,
O gift of priceless worth,
The Spirit’s cleansing, healing flood,
The new and holy birth!

The Spirit makes my longing heart
His own abiding place,
Transformed by His renewing pow’r,
His sanctifying grace.

The Spirit to my heart reveals
The blessed Christ of love,
The pathway to eternal joy,
The bliss of life above.

For me the Spirit intercedes
Before the Father’s throne,
And richest show’rs of blessings fall
On those He calls His own.

Chorus
The Three in One their witness bear
Of love and grace beyond compare;
The Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.

Saviour, I’m weak and weary

Saviour, I’m weak and weary!
Heavy has been my load,
Toilsome and long the journey
Over life’s rugged road;
Often have foes assailed me,
Often have storms distressed;
Fain I would lay my burden
Down at Thy feet and rest!
Fain I would lay my burden
Down at Thy feet and rest!

Saviour, I’m weak and weary!
Sore has the conflict been,
Striving against temptation,
Lab’ring a crown to win;
Sowing with earnest longing,
Weeping no fruits to see;
Thirsty and faint and helpless,
Saviour I come to Thee!
Thirsty and faint and helpless,
Saviour, I come to Thee!

Saviour, I’m weak and weary!
No other friend can know
All of my heart’s deep anguish,
No other feel as Thou;
Once Thou didst suffer sorrows
Keener than all my grief;
Only Thy warm compassion
Now can afford relief;
Only Thy warm compassion
Now can afford relief.

Saviour, I’m weak and weary!
Hold me upon Thy breast,
E’en as a loving mother
Soothing her child to rest;
Safe in Thy arms reposing,
Saviour, O let me stay
Until this night of sorrow
Ends in a blissful day!
Until this night of sorrow
Ends in a blissful day!

In the waves and mighty waters

In the waves and mighty waters
No one will support my head
But my Saviour, my Beloved,
Who was stricken in my stead;
He’s a Friend in death’s dark river,
He will hold my head above;
I shall thro’ the waves go singing,
For one look of Him I love!

O the grace no will can conquer!
The omnipotence of love!
Changeless is my Father’s promise,
It will never, never move!
In the storm, this is my anchor-
God will never change His mind;
In the wounds of Christ He promised
Life to me; and He is kind.

Tho’ the angry surges roll

Tho’ the angry surges roll
On my tempest driven soul,
I am peaceful, for I know,
Wildly tho’ the winds may blow,
I’ve an anchor safe and sure,
That can evermore endure!

Mighty tides about me sweep,
Perils lurk within the deep,
Angry clouds o’ershade the sky,
And the tempest rises high;
Still I stand the tempest’s shock,
For my anchor grips the rock!

Troubles almost ’whelm the soul,
Griefs like billows o’er me roll,
Tempters seek to lure astray,
Storms obscure the light of day;
I can face them and be bold,
I’ve an anchor that shall hold!

Refrain

And it holds, my anchor holds;
Blow your wildest, then, O gale,
On my bark so small and frail,
I shall never, never fail;
For my anchor holds, my anchor holds!

Thro’ the love of God, our Saviour

Thro’ the love of God, our Saviour,
All will be well;
Free and changeless is His favor-
All, all is well.
Precious is the blood that healed us;
Perfect is the grace that sealed us;
Strong the hand stretched out to shield us-
All must be well.

Tho’ we pass thro tribulation,
All will be well;
Ours is such a full salvation-
All, all is well.
Happy, still in God confiding;
Fruitful, if in Christ abiding;
Holy, thro’ the Spirit’s guiding-
All must be well.

We expect a bright tomorrow;
All will be well;
Faith can sing, thro’ days of sorrow-
All, all is well.
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
Or in living, or in dying,
All must be well.

Stay nigh me, O dear Saviour

Stay nigh me, O dear Saviour,
In all my mortal strife;
Thou only canst sustain me,
And keep me pure in life.

Stay nigh me, O dear Saviour,
My only sure defense;
I seek Thy guarding presence,
And naught shall draw me thence.

Stay nigh me, O dear Saviour!
In sorrow be my peace,
In perils be my succor,
And bid the storm to cease.

Stay nigh me, O dear Saviour!
In death be still my stay,
And draw me from deep waters,
To dwell with Thee for aye.

Refrain
I trust Thee, Lord, my steps to guide,
And ‘neath Thy wings I safely hide.

O golden day, when light shall break

O golden day, when light shall break
And dawn’s bright glories shall unfold,
When He who knows the path I take,
Shall ope for me the gates of gold!
Earth’s little while will soon be past,
My pilgrim song will soon be o’er;
The grace that saves, shall time outlast,
And be my theme on yonder shore.

Life’s upward way, a narrow path,
Leads on to that fair dwelling place,
Where, safe from sin, and storm, and wrath,
They live who trust redeeming grace.
Sing, sing, my heart, along the way!
The grace that saves will keep and guide
Till breaks the glorious crowning day,
And I shall cross to yonder side.

I dimly see my journey’s end,
But well I know who guideth me;
I follow Him, that wondrous Friend
Whose matchless love is full and free.
And when with Him I enter in,
And all the way look back to trace,
The conqu’ror’s palm I then shall win,
Through Christ and His redeeming grace.

Refrain

Then I shall know as I am known,
And stand complete before the throne;
Then I shall see my Saviour’s face,
And all my song be “Saving grace!”

O magnify His name with me,
The wonderful Redeemer;

His blood has full atonement made,
The wonderful Redeemer;
Iniquities on Him were laid,
The wonderful Redeemer!

He lives for us to intercede,
The wonderful Redeemer;
He will supply our ev’ry need,

Soon in His glory we shall see
The wonderful Redeemer;
And like Him we shall ever be,

If you have learn’d the story

If you have learn’d the story
Of Jesus and His love,
Each day repeat its music sweet
To those who blindly rove.

Some souls have never heard it,
And yours the task may be
To tell them of this priceless love-
This blessing rich and free.

Tho’ some have heard the story
And still unsaved remain,
It yet might win their souls from sin
If it is told again.

Repeat it to the weary,
And to the heart that grieves;
Repeat, repeat the message sweet,
Till all the world believes!

Chorus

Repeat it, repeat it,
Wherever you may be,
This story of love about Jesus above,
Who died on Calvary!

When life’s trials all are o’er

When life’s trials all are o’er,
I shall reach the golden shore,
And behold the wonders of that city fair;
Oh, what joy will then be mine
When I see His face divine,
By whose grace alone I find an entrance there.

Though I cannot understand
All that God for me hath planned,
Yet I know He ever sendeth what is best;
So I’ll wait and work and pray,
Simply trusting all the way,
Till He calls me home to dwell among the blest.

When I reach that land above,
In the shining realms of love,
And the veil is lifted from my wond’ring eyes,
What so darkly now I see,
Then will be revealed to me,
And with joy I’ll greet each glad and new surprise.

When I cross the swelling tide,
With my Savior to abide
Where the ransomed host forevermore shall dwell,
Thro’ eternity’s bright days,
In an endless song of praise,
Of His love and mercy I will ever tell.

Chorus
Oh, what glory,
Wondrous glory,
My Redeemer’s face to see!
Oh, what glory, wondrous glory,
His to be eternally!

Just lean upon the arms of Jesus

Just lean upon the arms of Jesus,
He’ll help you along, help you along:
If you will trust His love unfailing,
He’ll fill your heart with song.

Just lean upon the arms of Jesus,
He’ll brighten the way, brighten the way;
Just follow gladly where He leadeth,
His gentle voice obey.

Just lean upon the arms of Jesus,
O bring ev’ry care, bring ev’ry care!
The burden that has seemed so heavy,
Take to the Lord in prayer.

Just lean upon the arms of Jesus,
Then leave all to Him, leave all to Him;
His heart is full of love and mercy,
His eyes are never dim.

Refrain
Lean on His arms, trusting in His love;
Lean on His arms, all His mercies prove;
Lean on His arms, looking home above,
Just lean on the Saviour’s arms!

I have a dear Savior who loves me I know

I have a dear Savior who loves me I know,
And whose will I delight to do.
He’s present to cheer me wherever I go,—
Was there ever a Friend so true?

This wonderful Friend is a helper indeed;
He has promised to lead me thro’,
And closer He comes than a brother in need,—
Was there ever a Friend so true?

He soothes me in sorrow with songs in the night,
And inspires me with hopes anew;
He fills me with courage my battles to fight,—
Was there ever a Friend so true?

His love is a fountain of blessing so pure,
Ever flowing for me, for you;
His pow’r is unfailing, His promise is sure,—
Was there ever a Friend so true?

Refrain
Was there ever a Friend so true?
Was there ever a Friend so true?
I often have proved Him,
I ever will love Him;
Was there ever a Friend so true?

O Thou whose bounty fills my cup

O Thou whose bounty fills my cup
With ev’ry blessing meet,
I give Thee thanks for ev’ry drop,
The bitter and the sweet!

I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.

I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for the future crown,
And for the present cross.

I thank Thee for Thy wing of love,
Which stirred my worldly nest,
And for the stormy clouds that drove
The flutt’rer to Thy breast.

I thank Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy,
And for this strange, this settled peace
Which nothing can destroy.

Chorus
In ev’rything give thanks,
In ev’rything give thanks,
For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
Concerning you!

In the green and pleasant pastures

In the green and pleasant pastures,
By the waters calm and still,
My Redeemer and my Shepherd
Gently leads me at His will.
When He turns and walks in shadow,
Still I hear His voice of love:
“Little flock, obey and follow
To the fold above.”

O the flock the Shepherd leadeth
He defendeth from all harm;
With His watchful eye upon them
They are safe from all alarm.
Let us follow not a stranger,
Who will surely lead astray,
For the Shepherd ever loving
Knows the narrow way.

There is not a guide like Jesus,
With His clear and heav’nly voice;
As it ringeth in the darkness,
How my spirit doth rejoice!
When at last the silent river
I must cross, thro’ shadows dim,
I shall hear my Shepherd calling,
And will follow Him.

Chorus
My Shepherd’s voice,
With joy I hear,
The tender, loving Shepherd calleth:
“Do not fear;”
His voice I hear,
His voice I hear,
The tender, loving Shepherd calleth:
“Do not fear.”

Whate’er your grief or your load of care

Whate’er your grief or your load of care,
Roll your burden on the Lord!
Leave all with Him who is strong to bear,
Roll your burden on the Lord!

When skies are dark and the road is rough,
Roll your burden on the Lord!
He bids you come,-is it not enough?
Roll your burden on the Lord!

Believe His word, it is true and tried,
Roll your burden on the Lord!
O test His love, it will still abide,
Roll your burden on the Lord!

Tho’ countless worlds on His pow’r depend,
Roll your burden on the Lord!
The King of kings is the sinner’s Friend,
Roll your burden on the Lord!

Chorus
Roll, roll your burden on the Lord,
Roll your burden on the Lord!
O trust in Him who hath promised peace,
Roll your burden on the Lord!

Father, lead me day by day

Father, lead me day by day,
Ever in Thine own sweet way;
Teach me to be pure and true,
Show me what I ought to do.

When in danger make me brave,
Make me know that Thou canst save;
Keep me safe by Thy dear side,
Let me in Thy love abide.

When I’m tempted to do wrong,
Make me steadfast, wise, and strong;
And when all alone I stand,
Shield me with Thy mighty hand.

May I do the good I know,
Be Thy loving child below,
Then at last go home to Thee,
Evermore Thy child to be!
